About the Committee
The Miss Lincoln County Apple Queen Scholarship comittee is chaired by Megan Recore and Sarah Ross. Megan is a hair stylist at A Cut Above Salon in downtown Lincolnton. Sarah is a massage therapist at ProWellness Massage.
The director of the pageant is Erica Miller Tallent. Erica has been the director since 2015, after winning the title in 2013. She is also the choreographer for contestants and apprentices.
Committee members include Winter Graham.
Apprentice Program
The apprentice program was started in 2013 with the goal of allowing young girls to experience the pageant process without competing. Each contestant is assigned an apprentice to be their shadow during rehearsals and pageant day. They also help the director with stage props and help the committee the day of the pageant. Many former apprentices have gone on to compete and place, and even become Apple Queen: including Keely Stempien, Destiny Self, Ashley Fisher, and now Madilynne Burgin. These girls are students in Lincoln County School in grades 7-11.
Every year, the committee is allocated to award $300.00 in apprentice awards. This year, three apprentices recieved $100.00 each. They were: Anslee Turner, Addi Houser, and Jaylee Smith. Congratulations girls!
